Derek Stobbs
"I have been programming in different languages over the years since I was about nine, and have always enjoyed making small games.  This grew into much more than a hobby for me so I pursued, and obtained, an Honours Degree in Computer Games Technology from University of Paisley (now part of University of West of Scotland).  After graduation, myself and two classmates formed our own start-up games company, Kodetank Ltd. which was a reasonable success.  The three of us had different responsibilities and opportunties, so we went our separate ways.

BitShift Studios was originally started as a sole-trader business to work along-side Kodetank Ltd, but when we went our separate ways, this was to be my future.  Funded by my part-time teaching at University of West of Scotland, the business plodded along with no real goal or aims for the future.  Through the teaching work I got to know some of the students fairly well, and in 2010, BitShift Studios Ltd. was born, with myself and another graduate from the games course, Donald Leckie, as directors.

It is my hope that the business will continue to develop fun and inovative games on various platforms, from smaller mobile & web games, to larger console and computer titles.  Personally, I would like to specialise in advanced A.I. techniques such as the use of Genetic Algorithms and Neural Networks in modern games, but always keeping my focus for where the business is going.

As a stereotypical geek, my hobbies revolve around building and playing games, though I do spend time with my friends and enjoy the occasional trip to the pub."

Donald Leckie
"I am a graduate from the University of the West of Scotland in the Computer Games Technology Degree in 2009. I assisted Derek Stobbs with the creation of BitShift Studios Ltd in 2010. When I’m not being bossy I like to work with many elements of the projects that we work on; mainly programming but I have been asked to source sounds and other resources that will help games atmospheres. I also work on the BitShift Studios FaceBook page.

Outside of BitShift Studios I enjoy playing games on all sorts of platforms, but I’m big for outside activities as well ranging from running, to sports, to camping."
